LadyJade
LadyJade moderates the drugs and style & appearance forums, not to mention working her ass off to keep TheSite offices running. We snatched some time to catch her views on society and why an eco board would be a good idea.
What's been your most memorable experience as a moderator?
Moderating the politics board. I couldn't bring myself to believe that reason was in such short supply, so I stopped.
Do you ever have any difficulty balancing TheSite.org's editorial line with your own personal beliefs, how do you deal with this?
Yes and no. If I do disagree I make sure I understand why the decision is being made. As long I can make sense of that I am happy.
What do you do other than moderating?
Administrate. Study. Spend too much time online, in pubs and daydreaming, and not enough time actively supporting the things I believe in, pursuing my hobbies and exercising. Maybe.
If you had to be locked in a lift with another person who would it be and why?
Nick Cave. Just because I fancy a chat with him.
If you could change peoples' opinions on one subject, what would it be and why?
I'm generally fascinated that people can have similar experiences and process them in completely different ways.
How easy it is for an individual, through words and actions, to make a difference in changing the world. Even if it is in a small way it is always worth doing.
Do you learn from the posters' experiences?
Absolutely. I'm generally fascinated that people can have similar experiences and process them in completely different ways.
If you could set up one new forum what would it be?
Eco and Society - finding out what people do to make their world a better place to be, and how they can help other people do it. There is no excuse.
How does being a moderator fit with your career aims, if at all?
Less career and more an ambition to get the most out of life and stay open to other people in all their weird and wonderful ways.
What's your favourite thread?
This is a bit like asking for my favourite tune, it depends on how I am feeling, where I am, who I am with and what day of the week it is etc. With threads, It is generally the last one that has made me laugh. I don't really have a legendary one.
