What's been your most memorable experience as a moderator?

Not getting any of the questions right in the Christmas quiz.

Do you ever have any difficulty balancing TheSite.org's editorial line with your own personal beliefs, how do you deal with this?

Nobody will agree with everything an individual or an organisation has to say. I think it is more important to balance the urge to say what you think, with your responsibility to provide accurate, balanced and helpful responses, and that is what I aim to do.

What do you do other than moderating?

I do committee work for two organisations. One is for visually impaired people, and the other is for depressed people. I also teach visually impaired people how to use computers, and teach sighted people how to teach visually impaired people how to use computers, all at the same time. That means I teach six people six different things. I've got no teaching qualifications, and I've received no training in teaching.

If you had to be locked in a lift with another person who would it be and why?

My wife. She couldn't manage without me lol.

If you could change peoples' opinions on one subject, what would it be and why?

Care. I think people should be more caring towards disadvantaged people who live near to them.

"I teach visually impaired people how to use computers, and teach sighted people how to teach visually impaired people how to use computers, all at the same time."

Do you learn from the users experiences?

I develop a greater understanding of people from reading about their experiences, but if I haven't experienced similar things, it's harder to know whether I've learned from their experiences. Reading about people's experiences makes me think though and that is a good thing.

If you could set up a new feature in the chat room what would it be?

If it gets boring, a good feature would be a button a selected user could hit that generates a random topic for discussion.

How does being a moderator fit with your career aims, if at all?

My aim is to do good and I believe moderating the chatroom helps me achieve that aim because I can help people who have problems. Opening the chatroom gives people the opportunity to share their problems and instantly receive advice from other users who may also be having problems. Some people are also helped because they have somewhere they can go to and chat instead of worrying about work or home life.

What's your favourite topic to talk about in chat?

Sport. It isn't like discussing sport anywhere else on the web because most users who support a team aren't as passionate about it as people who attend matches or who spend all day discussing the serious issues regarding their clubs.

If I was... I'd be a... because...

If I was brighter I'd be a lawyer because I'd want to fight the corner of unconfident victims and help them get the justice they deserve. And if I was able to work the equipment in a studio, I'd want to work in radio because I like the idea of having my own show where I can do what I want. That would include discussions about things that matter, mixed with the music I like that doesn't get played much elsewhere.
