Wishful thinking?

Question

I have done a lot of research recently into anabolic steroids and I am considering using them. I know that some are perfectly legal and would not show up on a drugs test for illegal drugs, can you tell me which ones?

Answer

Anabolic steroids are Class C drugs and do show up in drugs tests. These drugs are to be sold only by a pharmacist with a doctor's prescription. If you've obtained them in this way it is legal to have them for your own use. But there is a black market for the production and supply of anabolic steroids. It is illegal to sell them (obtained via prescription or counterfeit) to other people and it's illegal to possess anabolic steroids that are counterfeit. The punishment for illegal supply of anabolic steroids is a jail sentence of up to five years.

You may think that taking anabolic steroids will help you to improve yourself physically, but it is important to remember they are drugs and carry the same legal and physical dangers. If you were considering using anabolic steroids, it would be useful for you to focus your research on the effects and risks involved in using them.

If you continue to consider the use of anabolic steroids you should consult your local doctor (GP) or contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
