Passive problem?

Question

I've got a drug test for a new job coming up and although I don't smoke weed I do spend time with people who do. Will passive smoking make my test come up positive?

Answer

Drug tests are either done by getting a sample of urine or hair. The most common way is through urine. A lot of employers now perform pre-employment drug testing.

There is little evidence that passive smoking will produce a positive drug test although you should be aware that the smell of the drug will remain on your clothes and you may run the risk of being approached by a police sniffer dog.

If you need legal advice related to drug use or testing you can contact Release on 020 7729 9904, your call will be free and confidential. Alternatively if you have any questions or concerns about drug use you can call Frank on 0800 776600 in confidence. Frank can give you advice and information about how to keep safe and get support if you want it.
