Do I have to see a doctor to buy Viagra? I've seen it advertised on the web and thought that would be a quicker way of getting it. Is it safe to do this?

Although Viagra is often advertised on the internet, it's only legally available in the UK on prescription. The manufacturers of Viagra, Pfizer, warn that Viagra should not be taken unless recommended by a doctor, as it can have side effects which include indigestion, headaches and affected vision.
If you're having problems getting an erection, it's important to remember that there have been major advances in the treatments for impotence problems and the majority of people can now be treated effectively. Lifestyle changes are worth considering as well as medical advice, including quitting smoking, reducing alcohol intake and looking at the amount of stress and anxiety you're feeling.
If this doesn't seem to help then you should contact your local doctor (GP). Your GP should be able to offer a number of possible solutions, including medication. In addition to your GP, the Sexual Dysfunction Association can provide details of local specialists.
