Behind the veil
From looking sexy, to being hard to communicate with - I went out on the streets to bug you for your opinion on wearing veils in public. The majority seemed to think it's a personal choice, have a read and a listen and see if you agree with the comments made...

Randomness
Is the theme for this months survey on TheSite. I thought I'd give you an exclusive peak at my answers:
1. Which TV show do you most look forward to?
Lost - but I'm not watching season 3 yet. Im going to wait until is on C4 and E4.
2. What's the worst programme on TV?
Celebrity Love Island.
3. What's the best tune you've heard this week?
Razorlight - America. I'm loving their come back.
4. What's the best thing about being you?
Hmm...
I make myself laugh. Generally because I can be quite dopey at times (not so good) but I think it's important to be content in your own company.
5. If I was a... I'd be a... because....
(e.g If I was a body part, I'd be an anus, because I'm anally retentive)
I'll just nick my answer from Meet the Mod for this one...
If I were an animal I would be a bird because I'd love to fly to a sunny climate for the winter.
Now it's your turn! Take our survey for the chance to win one of ten octopi.

NSFW...
A few things catching my eye in TheSite towers over the last few weeks that you might want to check out -
Block Frenzy! - can you move the mouse quicker than the blue blocks? Doesn't sound interesting, but be warned you will end up ignoring work for this. Current record on the boards is 41.08 seconds, but I'm sure you can do better.
Chad Vader - The force is strong with this one. What would happen if the Dark Lord of the Sith worked in Tesco? Find out with this series of damn impressive videos.
With Halloween coming up it seems a good time to mention the M&M's horror movie quiz. This clever little thing did it's bit for reducing productivity in the office; if you haven't seen it yet and you like a good slasher movie then it's well worth checking out. If you want to know the answers then look at the boards, but be warned it's more fun if you try it yourself.
And our staggeringly popular octopus screensaver is now updated with even more random stuffed animals. Take a look and confuse your friends as you try to explain why you've got a screensaver of a Purple Octopus.
Okay dokey, that's it for now, have fun and remember - there's nothing so important at work that you can't spend a couple of hours playing games on the internet.

Food glorious food
We just can't get enough of our new Food & Drink discussion board. We only launched it on Wednesday and already we've learned some truly heavenly combos (I'm particularly liking the idea of lime and vanilla) and some great dinner party menus.
The board is there for you to talk and read about all aspects of food and drink including favourites, cooking tips, produce and shopping. It's also complimented by our comprehensive food section on TheSite. If you're feeling flummoxed by the whole idea then our article on how to cook might be a good place to start
Right I'm off to read the most important thread on the new board so far: What's your favourite ice cream of course. In case you're wondering, mine's chocolate fudge brownie.

Oh yeah, and while we're on the subject, don't forget TheSite's gone all trendy and has it's own, rather special, mobile site now. Just type in the usual URL (www.thesite.org) to your phone and find the wonderful world on Local Advice Finder at your fingertips. Good, eh? Let us know what you're using your phone for...

The octopus-man of Alcatraz
WANTED: Fuzzy, purple, skinny-legged creatures with disproportionately large heads, which are on the loose. This isn't a trippy, apocalyptic vision of Prince clones wandering the Earth - they're the Youthnet octopi.
The felon pictured below was spotted gambolling through the streets of San Francisco, but once the law caught up with his hedonistic indulgence of mind-altering substances and cephalopod brothels, he soon found himself banged up in Alcatraz.
Well, would you trust that fixated expression of sinister joy? Have you even dared let one into your home? If so, show us the evidence.

Dedicated followers of dodgy fashion
Listening to other people's views of fashion disasters on our vox pop page made me think about my disasters when I was younger, and there were many unfortunately - from the luminous pink leggings to the Roger Rabbit top and matching rah-rah skirt.
There's nothing better than 'people watching' when we're stuck in queues or out shopping, and like our vox poppers, it's quite normal to see some disastrous oufits on our daily travels.
Only yesterday I was transfixed by a man sitting on the tube opposite me whose jeans were so short I could see the top of his socks, not a good look. But he looked happy enough and at least he didn't smell. I suppose he probably thought it was a bit weird I was wearing a belt above my belly button and leggings under a dress, but then that is the latest fashion isn't it...?

So, this is adulthood?
Last night a friend and I were talking about TheSite's new survey 'So, this is adulthood?' We were chatting about how and when we decided we were adults - if indeed we ever did.
The conversation went something like this:
Me: "So how did you know you were an adult?"
Him: "I think it was when I started to like eating the mouldy parts of blue cheese."
Me: "Yeah actually, thinking about it, maybe it was when I started to like the taste of olives, and when I stopped licking the icing off biscuits."
Him: "What? I still do that. How about when you decided you liked the biscuit part of iced gems instead of just biting the sugar bit off?"
Ok, so maybe deciding whether or not you're an adult based on what you eat and how you eat it isn't the best way. Moving into my own place may well have been more of a significant event than realising I liked olives. What do you think? If you haven't completed it already, head over to the survey on this page. Oh and feel free to leave any comments here.
